Shoot held at 700 Yards 13th July 2013
A gentle and predictable southerly breeze saw competitors shoot generally higher scores from the 700 Yard mound today. Ian “Mossy” Moss was the first to shoot a Double Possible and had to wait nervously while Mal “The Highlander” McKenzie ran him down with a higher Centre Bull score. McKenzie has just returned from representative matches in Sydney where he, Mike Chad and Neil Drain shot in the victorious, ”Country vs City” Match last weekend. This followed the Mid North Coast District Rifle Association Team running second to Central West DRA in the Inter DRA Teams Match.
The matches shot in Sydney are Coached Teams format and all three of the above marksmen are attempting to be included in the New South Wales Rifle Team – they are competing in very elite company. Bryce Drain, Neil’s son, also shot in the victorious Country Junior team along with Bronte Thurtell (Wingham Club) who also won the State Junior Champion of Champions (her score was high enough to have won the Senior Champion of Champions if she had been competing!)
The Club welcomed new member Craig Douglas again today, noting that Craig provides a great platform from which to launch a 7.62 mm projectile on its (up to) 1 Kilometre journey. Craig is looking forward to obtaining his own shooting equipment.
Don’t forget, visitors are welcome.

West Wallsend Open Prize Meeting held on the Cessnock Range (11th July 2010)
Four PMRC members attended and all featured in the lists of winners.

John Hart |
The Hunter Valley District Rifle Association Two-Day Aggregate C Grade was won outright by Junior, Bryce Drain. Bryce was also 4th in B Grade on the second day after his elevation to that grade.
Port Macquarie Club also won the concurrent Teams match. (We used to do that with monotonous regularity!!)
PMRC members had a trifecta at the 600 yd mound – Neil Drain 50.5 1st; Ray Nash 50.5 2nd’ and, John Hart 50.5 3rd.
The A Grade Aggregate was won by John Hart with 150.18. (That’s 150/150!!) |
